Gilsonite Natural Bitumen

Gilsonite (Natural Bitumen / Natural Asphalt) , also called as Natural Asphalt or Natural Bitumen, is applied in many different  range of industries like, oil and drilling, asphalt and road paving, steel and metal casting, inks, paints and varnishes and chemical products. Gilsonite can be used in shoe industry as shiner, protector of surface against the humidity and dust, in Ink and Paint industry, in Bitumen Industry and many other construction industries. Gilsonite or natural asphalt also can be used in ink industry to be used as stabilizer of ink and increase the stickiness on the paper.

Gilsonite can be provided in different grades and mesh as below:

1- Gilsonite lump with ash percentage between 0 and 25.

2- Granulated Gilsonite with a diameter of 30 to 40 meshes and ashes between 0 and 25 percent.

3- Gilsonite micronized powder with a diameter of 80 to 400 mesh and ashes between 0 and 25 percent. We offer a variety of packaging options based on customer orders and also OEM business is welcome.

GILSONITE APPLICATIONS

GILSONITE IN INKS & PAINTS

Gilsonite is applied in a wide range of applications in Ink & Paint Industries. Applying Gilsonite in this segment is used as weatherproofing paint bonding and fade-resisting stain pigments, while there will be an economical approach as well. The application is widely considered for Bitumen-based paints which are commonly used in car manufacturing industry. Adding Gilsonite improves UV resistance and general chemical resistance. Such usage has also made Gilsonite a common additive in wood stains and pipe coatings during the past years.

The Natural Bitumen has a very low softening point, making the product a semi-solid material mixed with dust and mineral contents. Such natural bitumen is found in several countries, such as Trinidad, Iran and Indonesia, but among all Iran Gilsonite has the highest purity and quality.

GILSONITE IN ASPHALT BINDER

As it is practical to add Gilsonite to Slurry to make cheaper bitumen, Gilsonite can also be applied in asphalt application, making cheaper and enhanced asphalt.

GILSONITE IN OIL BASED DRILLING MUDS

To achieve more effective drilling, in drilling rigs, a mud is applied to the driller in order to reduce the temperature of the hole while providing an

GILSONITE IN WATER BASED DRILLING MUDS

In drilling rigs, a mud must be applied to the driller for more effective drilling and also to reduce the temperature of the hole. A drilling mud is a lubricant applied in this process.

GILSONITE IN BITUMINOUS MEMBRANES

Bituminous membranes which are vastly used in construction and buildings, come in many forms, compositions and applications. The basic composition of a bitumen adhesive membrane is made of viscous and waterproof materials which will result in a pressure sensitive membrane resistant to water. Main usage of such membranes goes for roofing of commercial and residential buildings.

GILSONITE IN FOUNDRY SANDS

Gilsonite can be used in foundry sands as a carbon additive instead of sea coal, which is the conventional item for this application.

GILSONITE IN BITUMEN BLENDING

A new application for Gilsonite has risen within the past 10 years, and that is using natural bitumen as a raw material to make petroleum bitumen. Basically petroleum bitumen is made from sludge or slurry, obtained from the bottom of distillation tank, at the oil refinery. Slurry is transferred to bitumen manufacturing facilities to get processed into Petroleum Bitumen, also called Penetration Bitumen.

GILSONITE IN OIL WELL CEMENTING

A wellbore is a drilled hole that assists exploitation of natural resources including oil, gas or water. Wellbore is the primary hole on which the final well will be made. Also, wellbores can be encased by steel or cement or in some cases, depending on the situation, may not be encased.
